WELCOME TO MY SPECIAL OLYMPICS WEBSITE!
On September 29th I headed off to Shanghai China with 180 volunteers to support the Special Olympics Ireland Team. It was a fun, busy, action-packed two weeks, and an experience I will never forget.
TEAM Ireland had an outstanding performance at the Special Olympics World Summer Games, winning a total of 119 Medals and 69 Ribbons in 11 sports: Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Equestrian, Football (5 aside Male; 5 aside Female & 11 aside Male), Golf, Gymnastics and Table-Tennis.
The Special Olympics World Summer Games ran from 2-11th October in Shanghai, China. 7,200 athletes from 165 nations and regions took part in the Games, which were held for the first time in Asia.
I was overwhelmed by the support of all my family and friends and can't thank you enough. You can rest assured that every penny you donated was money well spent. To see the joy and pride in the faces of so many athletes competing for their country makes you realise just how important Special Olympics is. And it wouldn't be possible without the generosity of people like you! Well Done!
